Awards and the International Lingerie Show

It’s just three weeks to go before we head over the pond to the US of A for the International Lingerie Show. ?Since attending the April Show, we’ve had various media agencies and talk show hosts have a bit of fun at our expense, including Jimmy Kimmel and even CNBC Squawk Box (I hope you guys received your orders?!?)

The great thing about the US is regardless of the fact we make lingerie for men, the response we receive everywhere is positive. ?No one really seems to care a great deal about what you actually do, they are more interested in how you are going and the fact that you ‘have a go’ as we tend to say here in Australia. ?And the Lingerie Show is the perfect place for us.

Which brings us to Awards. ?Storerotica magazine is sponsoring awards at the September Fashion Show this year and we’ve been nominated. ?I’m not sure who or how that works, but it’s certainly nice to know that someone somewhere is aware of what we’re doing and felt we were worthy of a mention.

I’ve had a look at the Awards and voted (we’re guaranteed one vote!) and had a look at the other nominees. ?Since you have to vote for someone in each category, I was pleased to see a few businesses I was actually aware of and dealt with. ?One of those is Early2Bed, a store based in Chicago. ?Not only were they one of the first stores to stock our garments, they run an excellent business with plenty of info provided via social media.

I’m looking forward to the Show, and can’t wait to get back and meet store owners again and see their reaction to our lingerie. ?Do us a favour, register and place a vote at the Storerotica Awards website. ?We don’t mind carrying the extra luggage on the way home…

The Language of Lingerie

Location, language, social status, occupation. ?None of these points have any influence on guys and their love of lingerie. ?This week, we sent stock to a store in Sweden. ?Justine & Juliette have selected a range of HommeMystere lingerie for their store to meet the needs of their customers. ?And that has us thinking…

How do guys in countries where English isn’t their first language, go about finding quality lingerie for themselves? ?No doubt they follow the same path as most guys and pick up something at department stores, perhaps buy their ‘wife’ something nice for her birthday (telling the sales staff “she’s about my size….”)

But what about options to buy something like HommeMystere? ?Sure, we sell to many non English countries. ?Several countries in Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia have all received orders from us. ?But unless these countries have similar companies to ours, what are the options? ?Either they work their way through our store using translation software (we have added Google Translator to HommeMystere) or they go without. ?It seems that unless you speak, read and generally understand the English language, you’re pretty much ignored.

So we believe one way to allow guys around the world to have access to our lingerie is to stock stores in several countries. ?While Sweden is our first European country, we are looking into other regions with the goal to have a presence in various foreign countries.

It will be fun to see what we can do. ?Watch this space.
