A common comment we receive is our relationship with the gay/transgender community, our thoughts on heterosexual relationships and lingerie and so on.
The short answer is we don’t really care. ?It’s wrong to even divide people into separate communities based on anything pertaining to their personal preferences – sexual or otherwise.
I believe that when we’re young, either by accident or design, we’re brainwashed into believing there’s a particular path we ‘should’ be treading. ?However, as you get older, you develop your own unique likes and dislikes, thoughts and interests. ?Some people are comfortable stepping off the preordained path and creating their own new path.
Others are overwhelmed by guilt that they may be upsetting family and friends, or not ‘meeting the expectations’ that others have of them. ?They cannot break the bond, step out of the box and create their own destiny, as they probably want to do deep down.
So many people end up living a life that may not ‘conform’ to what the wider community apparently wants – but they are probably having a hell of a lot more fun than the ‘wider community’!
So we don’t really give a damn if we’re associated with anyone in particular. ?We’re treading our own path, creating something for guys, and having fun doing it!
And at the end of the day (or your life), when you’re six feet under, will it really matter that you were anything but honest with yourself? ?It’s doubtful anyone will care if you liked some nice lingerie..
Anyone that knows anything about mens lingerie, know that guys love satin. ?Anything that gives a smooth line under clothing, and has that slippery feel, will always be popular.
So it’s taken us a while, but we’ve finally released our first Satin set. ?The bra and brief is lavender in colour with a star printed pattern. ?Using a non stretch fabric presents a bit of an issue with sizing, but we have done our best to cover as many as possible.
Released just a few days ago, it’s already proving to be a popular garment – particularly the bra which is very stealthy even under T shirts!
And one thing we love about releasing a new garment – that’s placing our next order. ?So keep an eye out for the Red Lace set coming soon! ?Previews are available on our Pinterest Page
Well we made it back to Australia following another fun exhibition at the International Lingerie Show. ?We had a few guys in our panties on the runway for the fashion show and we have requested the video to post on our YouTube channel. ?Hopefully that won’t take too long to be prepared.
We missed out on the StoreErotica award but we were pleased to at least have received the nomination – well, actually that’s not entirely true. ?We would have preferred to win!
Popularity of men’s lingerie is not only growing rapidly in general, for HommeMystere at least, it’s showing growth in countries around the world.
While the United States and the UK has always been a big market for us, we’re finding an increasing interest in Asia and Europe. ?With the recent addition of a our stockists in Sweden and Japan, we have found our popularity growing worldwide.
This week we welcome on board our latest stockist in Singapore. ?Horny.sg is a large online retailer providing a broad range of products to customers locally in Singapore, and other countries in the region.
Even though we sell our products through the HommeMystere website, having stockists located in various countries worldwide provides many benefits to customers. ?Not only do lingerie lovers have the opportunity to go into stores, touch the lingerie and try it on, they can receive orders faster, in local currency from a website in the local language.
Ultimately, the goal of HommeMystere is to make our lingerie more accessible to our customers regardless of their location. ?Exhibiting at the International Lingerie Show in Las Vegas this month will allow us to show off our lingerie to store owners from around the world once again.
Hopefully our range will be picked up by a store close to our customers…
Location, language, social status, occupation. ?None of these points have any influence on guys and their love of lingerie. ?This week, we sent stock to a store in Sweden. ?Justine & Juliette have selected a range of HommeMystere lingerie for their store to meet the needs of their customers. ?And that has us thinking…
How do guys in countries where English isn’t their first language, go about finding quality lingerie for themselves? ?No doubt they follow the same path as most guys and pick up something at department stores, perhaps buy their ‘wife’ something nice for her birthday (telling the sales staff “she’s about my size….”)
But what about options to buy something like HommeMystere? ?Sure, we sell to many non English countries. ?Several countries in Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia have all received orders from us. ?But unless these countries have similar companies to ours, what are the options? ?Either they work their way through our store using translation software (we have added Google Translator to HommeMystere) or they go without. ?It seems that unless you speak, read and generally understand the English language, you’re pretty much ignored.
So we believe one way to allow guys around the world to have access to our lingerie is to stock stores in several countries. ?While Sweden is our first European country, we are looking into other regions with the goal to have a presence in various foreign countries.
It will be fun to see what we can do. ?Watch this space.
You know what it’s like. ?You walk past the lingerie section in a department store casually eyeing off the women’s briefs in every colour imaginable. ?You know, instantly, in a split second glance, what you like. ?And more importantly, what will fit.
You check the brief and think ‘they look nice’ then notice the centre seam and think ‘no good to me, move on’ until you see something without the seam. ?You realize the crotch width on the next one you like is too narrow, without even getting close to the hanger.
So you move on. ?Until you see something that grabs your attention. ?It’s ten paces away but you already know it’s the right style, it has no centre seam, frontal width is ok, colour is not your favourite but it’s close – and maybe there’s more choice on the other side of the rack. ?All you need now is to find them in your size – which of course you know. ?Because you can convert almost every women’s brand sizing to your own without even thinking about it.
Then as you get close, you realize the fabric hasn’t got enough stretch, you got all excited for nothing because these are just not going to work. ?But you note the brand because they might have something else suitable and you can hunt them down later.
Does this sound familiar? ?It’s annoying after a while isn’t it. ?Because it’s bad enough trying to find something you like, let alone being stalked by shop assistants that have no interest in serving you. ?And you thought to yourself, ‘if only I could just make what I want it would be so much easier’.
Well it’s not much easier but designing is far more satisfying. ?Not just because we get to design what we like – but because we get to design what you like.
And the best thing about designing lingerie for men? ?Plenty of samples and experimenting with different designs. ?If you’re a guy that’s seriously into lingerie, you would be extremely envious….
