What Happens in Vegas…

We’ve just returned from a personal trip to Las Vegas to celebrate a birthday milestone.  Eight nights in Vegas is clearly too much in one go and I’m surprised booking agencies don’t have pop up warnings against staying more than a few days!

But it’s a great place to go out with friends and we may even do something similar in another 10 years or so if the body is up for the challenge.

Aside from the usual tourist things like the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and shooting weapons which are foreign to us in Australia (my thumb will recover from the 44 magnum I’m told!), there was one thing I did notice around the strip and Freemont Street.

People wear anything they want in Vegas.  Seriously, on several occasions I thought mangerie is pretty tame compared to what was going on around some of those casinos.  But I also realised that just because you can wear something, it doesn’t mean you should!

All in all it was great trip and the hospitality from everyone we met was incredibly friendly.  A special thank you to the staff at Ellis Island Casino as we pretty much adopted the place as our Australian base due to the great service, affordable drinks, fun gambling and the chicken fried steak.

Apologies to anyone that may have received hearing damage from our group singing Aussie songs at all hours of the night and requesting Cold Chisel, AC/DC and Men At Work from anyone with a musical instrument.

The show highlight had to be Absinthe at Caesars which is the most politically incorrect funniest jaw aching show I have ever seen.  But take this tip and do not, under any circumstances book seats close to the stage unless you want to be part of the performance or have a desire to be insulted continuously throughout the show!  Very very crude and funny.

While in Vegas it became clear very early that I was not going to make a fortune gambling and so we spent most of time touring the area and visiting the various bars.

We also decided to have our birthday/stocktake sale in preparation for more stock that is due to begin arriving mid June.

For just a few more days we are offering 40% off across the store if you use the coupon code vegasbirthday when going through the checkout.  Sale ends next week!
