What a Year!

It’s been a big year for us at HommeMystere. ?We’ve certainly put some of the naysayers to rest as our men’s lingerie range goes from strength to strength! ?Some of the highlights have been-

  • Two appearances at the International Lingerie Show in Las Vegas with our latest runway appearance in September
  • A huge amount of worldwide publicity following the April Lingerie Show.
  • New stockists in Japan, Singapore, Sweden, France and the United States
  • New garments including the Dorothy panty and thong, Candy bra and panty, Satin bra and panty, Scrunchy bra and panty plus all our sold out short run garments!
  • Our YouTube channel at HommeMystere1 has almost reached one million views!
  • We established Twitter and Pinterest accounts to keep everyone up to date!
  • And we have some great new releases planned for 2014..

Of course none of this would be possible without our loyal clients that continue to support us and our US and UK agents that store and ship our garments to ensure fast delivery at a reasonable price.

We’ve also been fortunate enough to deal with many of our clients via email and phone to assist in everything from sizing to shipping to advising when new garments will become available.

With 2013 exceeding our expectations, we can’t wait fro 2014 to come around! ?More panties, bras, lingerie for men!

So we asked for some feedback…

This week we asked our subscribers for feedback on their lingerie wearing ways – particularly what any ladies thought about guys wearing panties or lingerie in general. ?Here are a some of the responses

MY MAN is extremely masculine and very much enjoys wearing lingerie, I encourage him – he can express his sexuality in whatever way pleasures him and myself. ?I find it very erotic that he wears lingerie and have an extensive collection myself, the satin, lace and silk against your skin and rubbing your partners body when together in bed is pleasurable for both of us. ?It does not mean that he is gay or bisexual, it is incredibly sexy to see my big strong man strutting around in his lingerie – hot hot hot”

I HAVE recently been dating a female school teacher, who would of preferred the sexual excitement of finding out for herself that I wear panties, rather than me telling her upfront before we got to the physical stage of the relationship. ?This new lady friend of mine, told me off for assuming she would think I was weird and not wanting to see me…..she thinks it amazingly beautiful, that I think of her when I am going to visit her, and choose a pair of my best half silk and lace, pastel shade panties, especially to see her……..A lot of women are not offended, and love the idea of men wearing panties, they often look more sexy than some females..”

I READ an interview with Eddie Izzard in Saturday’s Toronto Star and in a brief paragraph he described my experience exactly, saying he’s a transvestite; not gay, he doesn’t want to be a woman, loves women – and their clothes. ?Had that attraction since he was 4. ?It’s not a compulsion, but it feels good to wear satin and lace and frilly things. ?BTW, I’m 77″

(read the interview – it’s worth the time)

I AM married to the most beautiful woman for 33 years. ?We have two very successful daughters. ?My wife learned of my liking to wear lingerie when we were engaged. ?Since then she has bought most of my bras and panties, as well as negligees. ?I wear regular underwear during the week. ?But the weekend is for bras and panties. ?She has no problem with that as I am quite straight. ?Just like the feel of lingerie. ?Recently found HM and bought two different sets. ?When I get out of the shower on the weekend, she was waiting to “dress me” in my new bra and panties. ?She even has a special draw for all my lingerie. ?And she always picks out what I wear every weekend. ?Even the negligee for Saturday night. ?Been doing this for years, and we are both comfortable with it.”

I LIKE and I love my HommeMystere mens bra and panty because me and my 27 male staff wear bras and panties everyday, and our women also like this underwear, it comfortable for men.”

Do the choices you make really matter?

A common comment we receive is our relationship with the gay/transgender community, our thoughts on heterosexual relationships and lingerie and so on.

The short answer is we don’t really care. ?It’s wrong to even divide people into separate communities based on anything pertaining to their personal preferences – sexual or otherwise.

I believe that when we’re young, either by accident or design, we’re brainwashed into believing there’s a particular path we ‘should’ be treading. ?However, as you get older, you develop your own unique likes and dislikes, thoughts and interests. ?Some people are comfortable stepping off the preordained path and creating their own new path.

Others are overwhelmed by guilt that they may be upsetting family and friends, or not ‘meeting the expectations’ that others have of them. ?They cannot break the bond, step out of the box and create their own destiny, as they probably want to do deep down.

So many people end up living a life that may not ‘conform’ to what the wider community apparently wants – but they are probably having a hell of a lot more fun than the ‘wider community’!

So we don’t really give a damn if we’re associated with anyone in particular. ?We’re treading our own path, creating something for guys, and having fun doing it!

And at the end of the day (or your life), when you’re six feet under, will it really matter that you were anything but honest with yourself? ?It’s doubtful anyone will care if you liked some nice lingerie..

Say it with Satin

Anyone that knows anything about mens lingerie, know that guys love satin. ?Anything that gives a smooth line under clothing, and has that slippery feel, will always be popular.

So it’s taken us a while, but we’ve finally released our first Satin set. ?The bra and brief is lavender in colour with a star printed pattern. ?Using a non stretch fabric presents a bit of an issue with sizing, but we have done our best to cover as many as possible.

Released just a few days ago, it’s already proving to be a popular garment – particularly the bra which is very stealthy even under T shirts!

And one thing we love about releasing a new garment – that’s placing our next order. ?So keep an eye out for the Red Lace set coming soon! ?Previews are available on our Pinterest Page

Back to Reality

Well we made it back to Australia following another fun exhibition at the International Lingerie Show. ?We had a few guys in our panties on the runway for the fashion show and we have requested the video to post on our YouTube channel. ?Hopefully that won’t take too long to be prepared.

We missed out on the StoreErotica award but we were pleased to at least have received the nomination – well, actually that’s not entirely true. ?We would have preferred to win!

If you don’t follow us on Twitter?and missed our tweet,?check out Matt dressed in our PinStripe Boyshorts and Vest. ?Matt is with Christy at the Show. ?The PinStripe proved very popular at the show once again.

We’re now waiting on our satin bra and panty set to be completed and should have those available in the next few weeks. ?Keep an eye on our store or blog for updates.

We also stumbled upon an article written some time ago here. ?Take a look as it’s well written and is a good guide for wives and girlfriends that are looking for a bit of reassurance.

International Lingerie Show – Travel tips!

With only a few days before we head back to the International Lingerie Show, we’re almost ready for the trip. ?Being based in Australia, it takes an a fair bit of effort to prepare and organise everything prior to the show.

Fortunately, having great people in the US helps take the worry out getting our supplies to Las Vegas and allows us to focus on travel arrangements and preparing for the trip. ?With this being our fourth trip to the ILS and our third as an exhibitor, we’re becoming a little smarter at how we get there and what to expect.

For anyone interested, it’s just over 13 hours flying time direct to LAX from Brisbane, Australia, followed by a few hours stopover before we catch the connecting flight to Las Vegas. ?Total time from arriving at Brisbane airport to walking into the Rio All Suite Hotel is about 22 hours. ?Then another few hours before check in.

From previous trips we’ve come to learn the following-

  • Qantas has an awesome entertainment system but get your own headphones (unless you’re in the pointy end of the plane!)
  • Jet lag?is a given. ?Inflight drinks do seem to help a little. (see next point)
  • Having a partial hangover at LAX immigration is not good. Not good at all.
  • Three jumbos arrive at LAX from Australia at the same time each morning. ?Despite how tired you’re feeling, run to customs or prepare to wait. And wait. And wait a little more.
  • ?Find coffee, then connecting terminal and try not to fall asleep while waiting for flight to Las Vegas.
  • Arrive at Las Vegas terminal and watch all first time visitors stand around in confusion when instructed to catch a train to baggage claim (like we did first time around)
  • Avoid the slot machines in the terminal – there are enough at the casinos.
  • Arrive at hotel and wait for room by playing penny slot machines and drinking beer for the price of a tip!
  • Be amazed at the level of customer service and friendliness of the locals. ?Everywhere. ?Cab drivers, hotel staff and places off the strip. ?Tip accordingly.
  • You have as much chance of winning at a Las Vegas Casino as an Aussie one – and if you pick up a win over US$1200, you pay a 30% (roughly) state tax.
  • Try not to scream like a girl when in cabs driving around on the right hand side of the road.

For us, the best part is the ILS, the Fashion Show, talking to store owners and other exhibitors about their respective businesses and our own lingerie. ?We like to make a point of walking around the Show a few times and seeing what new products are available and chatting to the owners. ?It’s a fun informative Show, great atmosphere and great organisation. ?There’s never a dull moment in Vegas..

Lingerie in Asia

Popularity of men’s lingerie is not only growing rapidly in general, for HommeMystere at least, it’s showing growth in countries around the world.

While the United States and the UK has always been a big market for us, we’re finding an increasing interest in Asia and Europe. ?With the recent addition of a our stockists in Sweden and Japan, we have found our popularity growing worldwide.

This week we welcome on board our latest stockist in Singapore. ?Horny.sg is a large online retailer providing a broad range of products to customers locally in Singapore, and other countries in the region.

Even though we sell our products through the HommeMystere website, having stockists located in various countries worldwide provides many benefits to customers. ?Not only do lingerie lovers have the opportunity to go into stores, touch the lingerie and try it on, they can receive orders faster, in local currency from a website in the local language.

Ultimately, the goal of HommeMystere is to make our lingerie more accessible to our customers regardless of their location. ?Exhibiting at the International Lingerie Show in Las Vegas this month will allow us to show off our lingerie to store owners from around the world once again.

Hopefully our range will be picked up by a store close to our customers…

Awards and the International Lingerie Show

It’s just three weeks to go before we head over the pond to the US of A for the International Lingerie Show. ?Since attending the April Show, we’ve had various media agencies and talk show hosts have a bit of fun at our expense, including Jimmy Kimmel and even CNBC Squawk Box (I hope you guys received your orders?!?)

The great thing about the US is regardless of the fact we make lingerie for men, the response we receive everywhere is positive. ?No one really seems to care a great deal about what you actually do, they are more interested in how you are going and the fact that you ‘have a go’ as we tend to say here in Australia. ?And the Lingerie Show is the perfect place for us.

Which brings us to Awards. ?Storerotica magazine is sponsoring awards at the September Fashion Show this year and we’ve been nominated. ?I’m not sure who or how that works, but it’s certainly nice to know that someone somewhere is aware of what we’re doing and felt we were worthy of a mention.

I’ve had a look at the Awards and voted (we’re guaranteed one vote!) and had a look at the other nominees. ?Since you have to vote for someone in each category, I was pleased to see a few businesses I was actually aware of and dealt with. ?One of those is Early2Bed, a store based in Chicago. ?Not only were they one of the first stores to stock our garments, they run an excellent business with plenty of info provided via social media.

I’m looking forward to the Show, and can’t wait to get back and meet store owners again and see their reaction to our lingerie. ?Do us a favour, register and place a vote at the Storerotica Awards website. ?We don’t mind carrying the extra luggage on the way home…

The Language of Lingerie

Location, language, social status, occupation. ?None of these points have any influence on guys and their love of lingerie. ?This week, we sent stock to a store in Sweden. ?Justine & Juliette have selected a range of HommeMystere lingerie for their store to meet the needs of their customers. ?And that has us thinking…

How do guys in countries where English isn’t their first language, go about finding quality lingerie for themselves? ?No doubt they follow the same path as most guys and pick up something at department stores, perhaps buy their ‘wife’ something nice for her birthday (telling the sales staff “she’s about my size….”)

But what about options to buy something like HommeMystere? ?Sure, we sell to many non English countries. ?Several countries in Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia have all received orders from us. ?But unless these countries have similar companies to ours, what are the options? ?Either they work their way through our store using translation software (we have added Google Translator to HommeMystere) or they go without. ?It seems that unless you speak, read and generally understand the English language, you’re pretty much ignored.

So we believe one way to allow guys around the world to have access to our lingerie is to stock stores in several countries. ?While Sweden is our first European country, we are looking into other regions with the goal to have a presence in various foreign countries.

It will be fun to see what we can do. ?Watch this space.

Why do guys like wearing lingerie?

I listened to a Pod-cast this morning regarding our lingerie. One of the points raised was that men enjoyed women’s lingerie because it is lingerie made for women! Absolutely correct! That’s the taboo factor coming into play. The fact that it’s something socially unacceptable is the reason why many guys enjoy doing it.

However aside from a few select brands of women’s underwear, it doesn’t fit. And while it might be fun for the first five minutes, what if you really like to wear something a little sexier all day? Hence why there is HommeMystere. We wanted lingerie with a feminine look, though was designed in patterns and sizes suitable for guys to wear all day.

Another point raised was in regard to the look of lingerie on a guy. Let’s get something clear on this – we design the lingerie to make the customer feel better about themselves – not to make anyone else happy. I imagine it’s the same reason women buy lingerie – they buy it because it makes them feel better about themselves. And if their partner likes them wearing it then great! If it spices things up in the bedroom then that’s great too! It’s exactly the same for guys.

Whether it’s leather or PVC, sexy boxers, tank tops or lace bras and panties, it’s just clothing. If it makes the wearer feel better about themselves then great. Mission accomplished.

Oh, and the guy’s and bras thing? There are two reasons we design them. We can. And our customers love them!
